| SKYSCAPE is
a 27' x 16' x 8' composition that fills a tall skylight area above the departure area with
copper sculpture symbolizing the wind and air and birds flying. It is framed up on all
sides by acrylic paintings of sky 48' of sky painting in 6 panels 8' long and another 6
small square medallions 2' x 2' in copper symbolizing clouds. This composition activates a
very tall skylight space that begins 12' above the floor. The activity and variety of the
work adds expressive energy to a basic gathering area. All copper is suspended above by
stainless steel cable that is very thin, but exceptionally strong which helps to create a
feeling that the work floats in the space above. This work by the artist and the CIRCLE OF
FLIGHT sculpture at the airport entrance also by the artist serve to create a sense of
unity and lend a special feeling to the airport design. The complexities of both along
with the color of acrylic and gold leaf add a richness of texture which enhances the
airport spaces. |
